Star Maths - An Out-Of-This-World Experience

Star Maths - An out-of-this-world ExperienceImagine your school bus breaking down in outer space; imagine being stuck there for six months with nothing to do except mathematics! Imagine being able to solve all your math problems with the help of an oracle - pretty cool huh?

School TV brings you STAR MATHS a 3-D animated series set on Junketir, a planetoid slightly smaller than the Earth's moon and owned by Uncle Zak. Two children, Amber and Sam, are staying with him because their school space bus has broken down and they will only be able to go back to earth in six months.

STAR MATHS is designed for Foundation Phase Learners to support the numeracy curriculum and to demonstrate that Maths can be truly fun and exciting. Educators will find all of the programme details on pages 45 to 49 in their Resource Booklets; a STAR MATHS poster has been included in the pack for the classroom.

STAR MATHS traces the adventures of Amber and Sam as they learn how to work in hundreds, investigate addition pairs, division and multiplication, discover patterns, puzzles and even take part in a treasure hunt! When Amber and Sam struggle, they call on Numberella, a maths oracle who live in a different part of space, to help them.

But, you don't have to go to the end of the world to discover how exciting Maths can be. Simply tune into School TV and take part in the adventure in the language of your choice.

STAR MATHS is available in English on Monday, Wednesday & Friday; in Setwana on Tuesday and Afrikaans on Thursday. From the 15th of July, STAR MATHS will also be available in Sepedi, Xhosa and Sign Language

Tune in on SABC 2 on Monday to Friday at 10:10 for the adventures of STAR MATHS.
