Junior Apprentice Doctor™ is a junior medical course available on an interactive CD-ROM or in handbook format. Added to this is a medical kit packed with real medical instruments and items e.g. a stethoscope, a sphygmomanometer etc.

The student will learn more about how to examine the human body, medical procedures, medical equipment and diagnostic methods in a unique and practical way.

The Jr. Apprentice Doctor™ course is far more than a simple Anatomy or Physiology Course - it is the real thing put together by a team of professional doctors, artists and IT specialists to whet the appetite of any young student curious to explore medicine as a career.

The course is divided into "Basic principles of examination" where the secrets of making an accurate diagnosis are revealed and the "Human body" where the 11 bodily systems are studied in detail.

The CD-ROM contains 20 lectures and 43 practical projects with step by step instructions supported by numerous colourful illustrations and photographs.

Video clips demonstrate how a qualified medical doctor performs a number of medical examinations and procedures, and stethoscopic sound clips give the student examples of various normal and abnormal bodily sounds (e.g. heart, respiratory and gastrointestinal sounds). Animations help to masterfully explain a number of physiological processes (e.g. birth, blood flow, swallowing etc.).

Practical skills that will be acquired in this course include:
How to hygienically wash the hands; how to listen to and analyse a person's heartbeat; how to locate and examine the organs of a person's body; how to accurately take a person's blood pressure; how to perform a simple eye test, and many, many more!!

Standard patient examination procedures are clearly described, explaining what to do in a step by step fashion, also offering additional information, points of interest as well as the importance of applying an aseptic technique. Several charts, data sheets, and patient record sheets are supplied and explained.

HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases are discussed in a simple and practical way, including symptoms and diagnostic information. The latest information on numerous other diseases can be accessed on the internet links supplied in the resources section.

The "Recreation Room" offers interactive games like Hangman and Scramble, while the "Funny Bone" section contains over 50 medical cartoons - showing the lighter side of medicine!

A complete attractive medical kit contains all the instruments and items required for the practical projects. Instructions and information on all these instruments and items are supplied.

The Junior Apprentice Doctor™ course also serves as excellent supplementary material to the high school biology curriculum, as well as a number of other health orientated careers like nursing, physiotherapy, paramedics, beautician etc.
