Who are the SA Science stars? We are looking for the stars of South Africa’s science arena. Please help us to find them! Over the past seven years the annual NSTF awards have become SA's local “science Oscars”. And now, the search is on for the 2005 nominees! The value of recognitionRecognition is a powerful and invigorating tool to promote pride and ongoing excellence in science and technology. This is your opportunity to get wide recognition for the dedication and extraordinary contributions of special achievers and organisations. Nominate, or get nominated! Is there a colleague or friend that you regard as an “unsung hero of science”? It is up to you to start the process of getting him/her nominated. Or take the initiative – and work with your colleagues – to be nominated yourself! Tackle it from the topIn the past, organisations that have taken a decision to identify their achievers throughout the organisation have been extremely successful in winning NSTF awards. Are you the champion who can drive this process and achieve well-deserved recognition for your colleagues and organisation? There are awards in a range of categories for individuals at different stages in their careers, different types of organisations, as well as special awards for research capacity development and role model black researchers. Winners will be honoured at a gala event attended by the “Who’s Who” of science in South Africa. These awards are endorsed by the Minister of Science and Technology and supported by many champions of research and industry. Get the ball rolling ...As with all things that are worth the effort, it will take a bit of time to prepare the nomination and assemble the required supporting material. There is no time to waste, as nominations close at 12:00 on 30 November 2005! The detailed call for nominations and all the associated forms can be requested via email from nstf@csir.co.za or downloaded from the NSTF web site at http://www.nstf.org.za More information: Contact Marina Joubert with any further questions or for assistance with the nomination process: Marina Joubert
