Deep blue - Win a trip on a research vessel

In celebration of Biosciences Month in South Africa, budding scientists with a passion for the ocean could win a trip aboard a research vessel.

Learners on Board is an activity organised by the African Coelacanth Ecosystem Programme (ACEP), which was initiated after the discovery of coelacanths off the coast of KwaZulu-Natal by divers, in 2000.

The ACEP essay competition is aimed at Grade 11 learners (who do science, maths and/or biology). The winners of the competition get to sail the high seas.

You are invited to submit an essay on the following: ”The value of the deep ocean to me and my community”. CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: Friday 4th August 2006 at 4.00 pm. No late entries will be accepted. More info about the competition is available here.
