Astronomy Month

When you gaze up at the night-time sky, what do you see? What meaning do the stars hold for you? Are you just admiring the view, do you wonder what secrets the  stars may foretell regarding the future, or are you looking for clues to how the universe was formed, about the prospect of life on galaxies millions of kilometres away?  Southern Africa is well positioned for some of the most important research in the field of astronomy. With the Southern African Large Telescope and several state of the art observatories, scientists are able to probe the dynamics of black holes, white holes and wormholes, and much more.

Why should South Africa spend millions of Rands looking at stars and fathoming the beginning of time? Astronomy Month in South Africa shows you why. Visit www.saasta.ac.za for more information on Astronomy Month, a list of events near you and download some great cartoons such as the ones below.
