The Department of Botany & Zoology is recognised both nationally and
internationally for its research on various aspects of biodiversity science,
evolution and ecology. The current research programmes and teaching curricula
explore cutting-edge issues within Ecology and Evolution. The Department values
the symbiosis between quality research and teaching.
Duties: Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Ecology
recruiting and supervising postgraduate students at Honours, MSc and PhD levels
being active in research and continuous scientific publishing in a chosen
field of research being involved with and contributing to the broader
community.
Requirements: PhD in Biological Sciences with the emphasis on Botany
and/or Zoology an excellent research and publication record proficiency to
teach in English and willingness to operate in a multilingual environment a
keen interest and publication track record in Ecology and, preferably, at the
population, community or systems level.
Recommendations: Experience in tertiary teaching proof of successful
postgraduate supervision proven ability to source external funding for
research at least two years postdoctoral experience language proficiency in
both Afrikaans and English willingness to contribute to community service.
Commencement of duties: 1 July 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter
