Lecturer in Statistics

The Department of Statistics & Actuarial Science offers undergraduate and
postgraduate training to students in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics,
Actuarial Science and Financial Risk Management. Members of the Department are
also actively involved in research and consultation in these areas. The
Department is well equipped in terms of computer hardware and software.
Duties: Participating in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
of Statistics • assuming administrative responsibility for one or more service
courses involving large numbers of students • from time to time participating in
lecturing Statistics at Tygerberg Campus • participating in departmental
research activities (which, in the case of candidates not in possession of a
doctorate, must lead to the acquisition of this qualification).
Requirements: Master’s degree in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics as
minimum requirement (candidates not in possession of an applicable PhD must
already have started their doctoral studies) • experience in teaching large
groups of students in Afrikaans as well as in English.
Recommendations: Experience as course convenor for service courses
involving many students • experience in postgraduate lecturing of Statistics,
preferably in Statistical Quality Control • willingness to lecture at the
Tygerberg Campus.
